The officers of the Tabak Defense Press Corps (TDPC) led by Leah Agonoy, the president conducted a ceremonial tree planting of seedlings of fruit-bearing trees within the premises of the Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO), 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army, Camp Major Cesar Sang-an, Pulacan in Labangan town on Saturday, April 1. The TDPC officers assisted by the DPAO staff led by Captain Jairus Mark Mira conducted the activity during their 1st quarter meeting to show their utmost care for the environment and to help reduce the impact of climate change.

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, March 30—Governor Victor Yu was very happy with the surrender of 57 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members and supporters from barangays Saad and Dilud in the town of Dumingag in a ceremony held recently at the Covered Court, Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, Camp Abelon, Lumbia District here. "I am very happy to see Barangay Captain Jeffery and his colleagues who finally decided to surrender to the government. What they did was to show their solidarity with the government," Yu said. He also believes that if people are divided, it will not bring prosperity to the province. "Even though the governor is a good leader but the people are divided, it does not bring any benefit to his management of the affairs of the government," Yu explained. Corgue TUKURAN , Zamboanga del Sur, March 26— The Medical and Dental Civic Action (MEDCAP) of the 1st Cavalry (Tagapanguna) Battalion, Armor Division, Philippine Army benefited more than 200 residents of Barangay Manlayag in Tukuran town recently. The beneficiaries are as follows: 87- medical check up, 46- dental services, 40- free haircut-40, and others received free medicines and food. Major Adrian Aquino, executive officer said that MEDCAP is one of the pre-activities for the unit's 49th anniversary in April 2023 which carries the theme "Healing Hands, Caring Hearts, We are Here for You". "The event aims to bring basic health services to the people who live in far flung communities, especially barangay Manlayag which is one of our adopted barangays in the province. Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, March 25-- As a show of concern for the environment, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Zamboanga del Sur chapter along with stakeholders participated in the regionwide simultaneous estero and coastal clean-up drive here recently . Bringing their cleaning tools such as rakes, empty sacks, gloves and trash pick up sticks, the local chapter led by Melchor Coronel went to the beach in barangay San Pedro especially on the side of the Boulevard and picked up the garbage floating on the beach. Coronel is happy that the members of the local chapter continue to show their active participation in coastal clean-up by removing garbage that harms marine life and human health. 1CAV, APMC collect over 43,000 units of blood from stakeholders

Corgue LABANGAN, Zamboanga del Sur, March 21—About forty three thousand two hundred (43,200cc) of blood was collected from 96 altruistic volunteer blood donors in the recent bloodletting activity conducted by the 1st Cavalry Battalion, Armor Division, Philippine Army, in partnership with the Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) at Camp Colonel Jacobo Zobel in barangay Pulacan here. LtCol. John Mark Competente, the commanding officer said that the activity which carries the theme: "Dugo Ko, Sagip Buhay Mo" is part of the series of activities in connection with the upcoming 49th Founding Anniversary of the unit on April 2023. Governor Victor Yu in his message to groups of women in Pagadian City during the women's forum held recently in the covered court of provincial capitol said that the provincial government allocated funds for the college scholarship program to help ensure that education is accessible to all especially the poor and deserving students. Yu added that the said funds come from the congressional funds of the two (2) representatives and the provincial government and this includes P30 million from 1st district representative Divina Grace, P30 million from 2nd district representative Jezel Victoria, and P20 million from the provincial government. A vehicular accident occurred in Purok Tinangkong 2, Barangay Balintawak, Pagadian City at 3:30 on Sunday, March 19, 2023. The incident involved a white Nissan Urvan vehicle driven by Henderson Husayan from Vicenzo Sagun, ZDS, and Mazda Bongo driven by Arnold Quirante, a resident of Napolan, Pagadian City. It was learned that while the Nissan Urvan vehicle with 11 people on board was traveling from Pagadian City to V. Sagun and the Mazda Bongo vehicle from Dumalinao to Pagadian, accidentally collided in the area. The vehicles were heavily damaged and all the people in the vehicles sustained injuries and were taken to the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center for treatment. The provincial government of Zamboanga del Sur is ready to host the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) Qualifying Meet slated on April 22-27, 2023 at the Provincial Government Center, Barangay Dao, Pagadian City. Dr. Mario Shoji Romarate, the Education Program Supervisor and Sheila Rose Apiag, the chief, Education Support and Services Division in the press conference, officially announced that Zamboanga del Sur is ready to host the sporting event after Governor Victor Yu approved the request of DepEd-9 officials to hold it in the province. A total of 6,300 participants consisting of learner-athletes, coaches, technical officials and chaperons from eight (8) schools division in Zamboanga Peninsula are scheduled to participate in the event.

In the Mayor's report program, Co said that the city government has been urging the people to be vigilant because the whole country observes the month of March as Fire Prevention Month where usually in this month, there are fire incidents reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). "Every month of March, the weather is very hot and the plants are also very dry which is why the fire spreads very easily. The Police Regional Officer-IX of Zamboanga City successfully passed the institutionalization stage--the last stage of the Performance Governance System (PGS) during the performance audit conducted by the Technical Working Group of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan at Camp Col. Romeo Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City on March 8. Apart from meeting the criteria, the audit team was also very impressed with the best practices implemented by ZSPPO and PAGPTD which helped reduce the crime rate in Zamboanga Peninsula and the strengthening of good relations between the police and the community.

PDAO pushes for the implementation of laws that benefit PWDs

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, March 05--- The Person with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) is pushing for the implementation of national laws that have provided benefits to persons with disabilities (PWDs). Miriam Llanos, the provincial head said that they insist on the implementation of Republic Act 10070 otherwise known as "A law that establishes the institutional mechanism to ensure the implementation of programs and services for PWDs in all provinces and municipalities in the country,”   and in order to improve the living condition of the PWD sector. Llanos, who is also the PDAO National President received reports online that some of her fellow social workers in the municipalities reported to DILG that their PDAO was functional even though they know that in reality there are non-existent PDAOs in some municipalities just to pass the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) evaluation.
