PAGADIAN CITY, March 30—Governor Victor Yu was very happy
with the surrender of 57 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members and supporters
from barangays Saad and Dilud in the town of Dumingag in a ceremony held recently
at the Covered Court, Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, Camp Abelon,
Lumbia District here.
"I am very happy to see Barangay Captain Jeffery and his colleagues who finally decided to surrender to the government. What they did was to show their solidarity with the government," Yu said.
He also believes that if people are divided, it will not
bring prosperity to the province.
"Even though the governor is a good leader but the
people are divided, it does not bring any benefit to his management of the
affairs of the government," Yu explained.
Barangay Captain Jeffrey Señara
said that he is also happy that some of the residents of their barangay who are
supporters of the NPA, joined him in yielding to the government.
"I urge my colleagues who yielded to the government
to change ourselves and we will sincerely support the government of the
Philippines under the management of President Bongbong Marcos so that we can
fully enjoy peace," Senara said in vernacular.
In the same vein, Yu said that his ambition for the province is to become insurgency free, which is why the provincial government is implementing several projects, programs and services so that the people can benefit from it.
The governor announced that the road network that has
been laid down with the consultation with all the mayors of the province. Also
included is the implementation of programs for health, education, and peace and
order, where the provincial government has given enough power to the people
that they will take the lead in planning to develop their barangays.
The local chief executive believes that despite the many
buildings and roads and other projects that will be implemented by the
government, but a place without peace, it will be difficult for its people to
enjoy prosperity and development.
He also added that "there is no perfect
government", but if all people are united and support the development
projects of the government, a place can be peaceful and prosperous.
"I expressed my gratitude for your promise to help
the government. I hope that our partnership will be strengthened so that you
can help not only yourselves but also our community," the governor
concluded. (jcc/KBP-Zam boanga del Sur)
