Pagadian city gov’t offers livelihood program for women

PAGADIAN CITY, March 16--- The local government of the
city offers a livelihood program for women.
Thus, disclosed Mayor Samuel
Co in his message to women during the celebration of Women's Month held at the
Covered Court here.
Co said that First Lady Priscilla Ann Co, chairperson of the Local Council of Women (LCW) in the city encouraged him to provide a livelihood program to women so that they can become productive members of society and help improve their economic condition.
"Women not only gather
and dance during the celebration of Women's Month, but it is necessary that
they also work and create sustainable livelihood programs to help improve their
economic status, Co said quoting the First Lady.
The local chief executive
said that the group of women is required to start and grow their businesses
that will last for a long time. He specifically pointed out the common
livelihood activities such as: sardines making, soap making, production of
shirts, and other types of businesses for their sustainable livelihood and
income.
The good mayor also urged the barangay captains that the livelihood program of the women's association in their barangay is not similar to ensure that their products are easily sold in the market.
He also assured that the
local government will help buy the machinery needed to make their products
since the government has a budget for this.
Co said that after the
women's groups finish making their products, the LGU will assist them in
selling the items.
He will also request all store
owners to patronize women's products. "If their products are not sold, the
