Registrants flock to C-3 Mall on the last day of voter's registration

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, January 31 (KBP)- -The new and returning registrants flocked to the City Commercial Center (C-3) on Tuesday, January 31 to beat the deadline for filing the application for registration in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 30. Atty. Jed Labador, the city election officer said that more than 600 voters registered on the last day of voter's registration to be eligible to participate in this year's BSKE. Labador said that three (3) days before the last day of registration, the Comelec moved its venue to C3 Mall in order to accommodate the influx of qualified voters' registrants and so that their services could be closer to the people. He added, the City Comelec started the registration at around 9:00 in the morning because this is the opening time of the C-3 Mall and ended at around 6:00 in the evening. The new and returning voters of Pagadian City visited the off-site voters' registration area at the ground floor of the City Commercial Center (C-3) Mall on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, to register for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections in October this year. Atty. Jed Labador, the city election officer said that the registration starts at 9:00 am and ends at 6:00 pm. LENRO, stakeholders concerned about the presence of several non-biodegradable wastes in coastal barangays

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, January 26 (KBP)— The Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (LENRO) and stakeholders are very concerned about the number of non-biodegradable wastes buried in the sand in barangay White Beach here. Thus disclosed Analyn Babayson, the local environment and natural resources officer in an interview on the program 'Asenso Pagadian' over RMN DXPR recently . Babayson said that in the region-wide estero and coastal clean-up initiated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Officer (DENR-IX) on January 25, the stakeholders personally witnessed a number of non-perishable garbage that was buried deep in the sand that mostly consisted of nylon ropes and tarpaulin that belonged to commercial fishing vessels. Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, January 25 (KBP)— To encourage stakeholders to help the government protect and conserve the environment, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) initiated a region-wide Estero and Coastal Clean Up Drive' on January 25, 2023 . Ronald Gadot, the in-charge of the office of the executive regional director said that the event is one of the highlights of the observance of Zero Waste Month in January, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 761, dated May 2014 and this also marks the 20th signing of RA 9003 which is the 'Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000". The activity held in the Balangasan river and the coastal barangays of the city is the highlight of the observance of Zero Waste Month every January and at the same time, it marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of RA 9003 otherwise known as "Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000."

KBP plants 500 hardwood seedlings in Pagadian

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, January 22 (KBP)— To combat global warming and prevent flooding and landslides, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Zamboanga del Sur chapter conducted a tree planting activity in the watershed of barangay Manga   recently. About 500 indigenous tree seedlings of variety of forest tree species provided by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) were planted by the 2022 KBP Accreditation exam passers and personnel of the 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FB), Army Artillery Regiment and Tactical Operations Group (TOG) -9), Philippine Air Force in the watershed of barangay Manga here. Melchor Coronel, the chairman of the KBP local chapter said that this event is part of the activities for the year 2023 that provide services to the community. At least 500 variety of forest tree seedlings provided by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)  were planted by the members of Kapisanan ng nga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)- Zambonga del Sur chapter in the tree planting activity held in barangay Manga, Pagadian City. Melchor Coronel, the chairman of the KBP local chapter said that the event aims to encourage newly accredited radio announcers who passed the Sept.10, 2022 KBP accreditation to show love for Mother earth through environmental preservation. Among those who participated in the event were the personnel of the 1st Field Artillery Battalion, Army Artillery Regiment and Tactical Operations' Group (TOG-9), Philippine Air Force who are stakeholders of the local chapter.

DHSUD, Pagadian LGU ink township project for 5,000 families

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, January 19 (KBP)— The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) formalized its partnership with the Pagadian City local government unit (LGU) for the township development project that will benefit some 5,000 families. DHSUD Undersecretary Roland Samuel Young and Mayor Samuel Co sealed their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday at the Executive Function Hall, city mayor's office here. The housing project under the 'Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program', is the flagship project of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. which aims to address the country's housing need. Young said that he came to Pagadian to show the commitment of DHSUD and to showcase the housing project of President Marcos this year 2023. FEATURE STORY| Tawagan Sur contingent wins 2023 Pasalamat Festival

Corgue The Barangay Tawagan Sur contingent wowed the spectators when they showcased their beautiful dance performance during the Pasalamat Festival 2023 on January 15 which made them win the P600K grand prize. This year's festival was participated by 16 contingents from 54 barangays in the city and other organizations that are grouped in clusters. Didn't expect to win Marianette Marcaban, the punong barangay said that they didn't expect to win this year's Pasalamat Festival since all the participating contingents performed very well. “We did not expect to win the Pasalamat Festival this year because all the contingents performed very well. Apart from that, the time we used to prepare is very short, especially to practice the dance, and prepare the costumes and props for the dancers," said Marcaban. Sheltered workshop helped improve the livelihood, well-being of PWDs

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, January 12 (KBP)— The sheltered workshop established by the local government in Lapuyan town has greatly helped the livelihood and well-being of persons with disabilities (PWDs). Thus, disclosed Joel Cañete, the head of the persons with disability affairs office (PDAO) during the weekly program "Kapihan" over DXPR radio station recently. Cañete said that in 2011, the local government under the leadership of former Mayor Daylinda Sulong built the sheltered workshop (SW) called "Home for the Vulnerable and Disadvantaged Sector" located near the public market to help the PWDs in the town which is considered the most vulnerable sector of the society. The Municipal Inter-Agency Committee (MIAC) is pushing for the establishment of the SW by forging a resolution that aims to offer training and productive employment for PWDs and older persons (OP) by creating and selling goods and services for their additional income. In the "Straight to the Point" program over DXPR radio station, J/Senior Inspector Nivea Langkit, the chief of the Personnel and Records Management Division (PRMD) announced that the BJMP-IX was given by the national headquarters the regular quota of 70 and an additional 80 for the attrition quota. Flood victims received relief goods from generous family

Corgue ALORAN, Misamis Occidental, January 2 (KBP)— Around 400 families of flood victims in Misamis Occidental received relief food packs consisting of rice, noodles, and canned goods from concerned families in Pagadian City. Mr. & Mrs. Ramir Delos Reyes, the owner of Golden Daughter Enterprises personally distributed relief goods to affected families of the flood that left rice fields and homes underwater in the towns of Misamis Occidental on December 25, 2022. They distributed the relief food packs in the barangays they passed through, especially in the municipalities of Aloran, Sinacaban, Jiminez, and Oroquieta City. Corgue TIGBAO, Zamboanga del Sur, January 15 (KBP)— The visit, counselling, and giving of sari-sari store packages by the government encouraged persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the province to rise from their difficulties in life. This was the reaction of some PWDs who were recently visited by the persons with disabilities affairs office (PDAO) headed by Mirriam Llanos, the provincial head. Sari-sari store package delivered Felimar Paglinawan, a 21-year-old resident of Begong, Tigbao was one of those who were visited by the PDAO staff and were given two (2) sacks of grocery items from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office. Paglinawan, an institutional worker at the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center (ZSMC) was the victim of a vehicular accident on August 5, 2022 where the single motorcycle he was riding was hit by a wing van truck causing both of his legs to be broken and he was unable to walk.
