The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Zamboanga del Sur chapter together with the 1st Cavalry Tagapanguna Battalion, Armor Division, 1st Field Artillery (Beat Em) Battalion, Philippine Army and other stakeholders participated in the 'Region-wide Estero and Coastal Clean Up Drive' initiated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on January 25, 2023. The activity held in the Balangasan river and the coastal barangays of the city is the highlight of the observance of Zero Waste Month every January and at the same time, it marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of RA 9003 otherwise known as "Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000."
