ALORAN, Misamis Occidental, January 2 (KBP)— Around 400 families of flood victims in Misamis Occidental received relief food packs consisting of rice, noodles, and canned goods from concerned families in Pagadian City.

Mr. & Mrs. Ramir Delos Reyes, the owner of Golden Daughter Enterprises personally distributed relief goods to affected families of the flood that left rice fields and homes underwater in the towns of Misamis Occidental on December 25, 2022.

They distributed the relief food packs in the barangays they passed through, especially in the municipalities of Aloran, Sinacaban, Jiminez, and Oroquieta City.

Jacqueline, Ramir's wife said that when they saw the miserable situation of the people in the affected towns of Misamis Occidental on social media, she immediately suggested to her husband and children to help the affected families by ready relief food packs.

"Even though we are very busy with our work at the store, we immediately set aside an appropriate time to repack the food packs. I am happy that my husband, my two children and salesmen helped pack the relief food packs so that they can be given immediately to the flood victims in the province," Delos Reyes said in the vernacular.

She added that they also stopped and visited the evacuation centers to help those who were temporarily living in the centers since it had been raining for several days.

"I am thankful that when we visited the flooded areas, we were helped by Rev. Rosendo Cuaresma, the former parish priest of the towns of Aloran, Jimenez and Tudela in guiding us to the barangays that were most affected by the impact of the flood whose people house and clothes were damaged a lot," he said.

She also said that they were able to return in Pagadian City at night because the places they visited were far away and there were also many families who wanted to receive food packs from concerned people and organizations.

"We felt very tired from the day of repacking until the day of its distribution, but this disappeared when we saw the smiles of the affected families after receiving the food packs that we handed to them," said Delos Reyes.

"We pray that many more people and organizations will also share their blessings with the victims of the flood because their situation is very pitiful and so that they can slowly recover from their suffering," she concluded. (GCC/KBP-Zamboanga del Sur)
