DHSUD, Pagadian LGU ink township project for 5,000 families

PAGADIAN CITY, January 19 (KBP)— The Department of
Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) formalized its partnership with
the Pagadian City local government unit (LGU) for the township development
project that will benefit some 5,000 families.
DHSUD Undersecretary Roland Samuel Young and Mayor Samuel Co sealed their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday at the Executive Function Hall, city mayor's office here.
The housing project under the 'Pambansang Pabahay para
sa Pilipino Program', is the flagship project of President Ferdinand Marcos,
Jr. which aims to address the country's housing need.
Young said that he came to Pagadian to show the
commitment of DHSUD and to showcase the housing project of President Marcos
this year 2023.
"The signing of the MOU between the DHSUD and the Pagadian City government aims to address the housing backlog of the city government of 3,000 to 5,000 housing units," Young announced.
He added that under the MOU, the DHSUD and LGU will
create a township development project that will consist of residential and
commercial types to become a sustainable home for the residents.
"Under the project, we are subsidizing the 5% of
the 6% interest.. They will only pay 1%," Young proudly announced.
Meanwhile, Mayor Co is happy with the arrival of Usec.
Young in the city because the dream of the residents to own decent, safe and
affordable shelters will come true.
Co reported that the local government has allocated a P70-M budget to be used to buy lots in the barangays. He added that currently, there are 4 lots that have been purchased by the city government in the barangays.
"In the project, it will start with the minimum
wage earners and people who cannot afford and have a hard time of paying the monthly
