Registrants flock to C-3 Mall on the last day of voter's registration
By Gideon C. Corgue
PAGADIAN CITY, January 31 (KBP)-
-The new and returning registrants flocked to the City Commercial Center (C-3)
on Tuesday, January 31 to beat the deadline for filing the application for
registration in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on
October 30.
Atty. Jed Labador, the city election officer said that more than 600 voters registered on the last day of voter's registration to be eligible to participate in this year's BSKE.
Labador said that three (3) days before the last day of registration, the Comelec moved its venue to C3 Mall in order to accommodate the influx of qualified voters' registrants and so that their services could be closer to the people.
He added, the City Comelec
started the registration at around 9:00 in the morning because this is the
opening time of the C-3 Mall and ended at around 6:00 in the evening.
Labador said that what the Comelec accepts from registrants is the application for new registration and application for transfer of registration records.
"What we accept from the registrants is their application for new registration and also the application for registration of records from another place, especially the transfer from one barangay to another barangay. We also reactivated the records of those deleted records of voters who did not vote in the two consecutive elections, correction of entries of incorrect data and the change of status," said Labador.
The election officer also thanked
the local government for allowing the Comelec to use the ground floor of the
said building.
"I thank the city government
through Mayor Samuel Co for allowing us to use the C-3 Mall area because it is
a convenient place for voters and its area is spacious unlike our office which
has a small area ," Labador concluded.
The voter's registration started
on December 12, 2022 and ended on January 31, 2023. (GCC/KBP-Zamboanga del Sur)
