Mayor Co grateful with the establishment of TeWS in Pagadian City

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, July 1— I am both happy and thankful that Pagadian City was selected by DOST-PHIVOLCS as the location of the Tsunami Early Warning System (TeWS) in the entire region 9. Thus disclosed Mayor Samuel Co during his weekly radio program dubbed "Mayor's Report". Co said that he planned the barangays that would be an option to set up TeWS, as follows: Kawit, Santiago, Sta. Lucia and San Pedro, but the barangay San Pedro was chosen by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and PHIVOLCS to be the proper location for the said equipment. Co added that he agreed that TeWS will be placed in San Pedro saying the tourism projects such as water park, fish park, sports complex, and boating station are located and it is expected that many tourists will be in those places. Our farmers play vital role in improving our economy, says Governor Yu

Thus disclosed Governor Victor Yu in the provincial turnover of P55-M worth of agricultural machinery to farmers associations held in Subanen Hall, barangay Dao recently. It is said that 70% to 80% of our people in the country depend on farming as a means of livelihood, Yu said quoting the statement of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. Yu also added that Zamboanga del Sur, farmers rely heavily on their single source of income by engaging in farming such as: planting rice and corn, coconut, and raising livestock, and others. Taiwan college scholarship provide many benefits to ZamboSur students By Gideon C. Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, June 24— The passion of students to get a degree, future academic and career goals can only be achieved by availing scholarships abroad. On June 21, over 75 applicants who graduated from high school in the province of Zamboanga del Sur passed the online application administered by the team from Kun Shan University, Taiwan which was held in the city. Governor Victor Yu in his message said that the advantage of the scholarship program offered by Kun Shan University is that it is a high level study in the engineering course. "If you graduate from a well-known university in Taiwan, you can easily be accepted in other countries and also here in the Philippines. So, this is a great opportunity for high school graduates in the province," Yu explained. Mayor Co highlights infrastructure projects at city’s 55th anniversary program By Gideon C. Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, June 24— Mayor Samuel Co proudly announced the various programs and ongoing infrastructure projects of his administration during the anniversary program held at the covered court on June 21. Speaking before the guests, officials and employees of national government agencies, local government unit (LGU), academe and non-government organizations, Co happily announced that more than 50 complete buildings have been built in the regional government center in barangay Balintawak here. 300 college students receive financial assistance from the govt’s SMART program

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, June 16— Divina Grace Yu, the representative of the first District of this province congratulated 300 indigent college students who received scholarship grants from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in a ceremony held at the Pavilion Hall recently at PGC, Dao here. Yu said that the student-beneficiaries from the local state universities and colleges in Zamboanga del Sur are very lucky because out of 10,000 college students, only 300 students have availed of the Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) program, the scholarship program of the national government. The SMART program, is a one-time financial assistance program given by the national government to selected University students where the beneficiaries receive Twenty Five Thousand Pesos (P25,000). City gov't turns over 100 housing units to IP community in Lison Valley

By Gideon C. Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, June 9— The city government recently conducted a turnover ceremony of housing units to one hundred (100) families from the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) group in Brgy. Lison Valley here. Mayor Samuel Co said that the housing project costs P20-M is the grant from the National Housing Authority (NHA) in the year 2020 and is supplemented by P3-M from the city government to facilitate the construction of houses from contractors. Co said that the housing unit consists of a room, a kitchen, a comfort room, and a living room, where the lot is big and the beneficiaries can also extend their house within their lot. Co added that the housing project is part of the program he planned for his residents where he wants to raise the standard of living of the people of Pagadian, and have a comfortable house.
