Mayor Co highlights infrastructure projects at city’s 55th anniversary program

PAGADIAN CITY, June 24— Mayor Samuel Co proudly announced
the various programs and ongoing infrastructure projects of his administration
during the anniversary program held at the covered court on June 21.
Speaking before the guests, officials and employees of national government agencies, local government unit (LGU), academe and non-government organizations, Co happily announced that more than 50 complete buildings have been built in the regional government center in barangay Balintawak here.
"Before it was just a dream that the city would
develop but today the dream has become a reality. We are very happy that in our
55th anniversary celebration, we already have more than 40 completed buildings
at the regional government center," Co said.
Co assured that the regional center will not return to
Zamboanga City because the city government has already spent billions of money
to relocate the buildings.
The local chief executive (LCE) announced the following
major projects successfully implemented by his administration: construction of
the landmark project - the city commercial center (C3), an LGU-owned mall;
construction of the perimeter building of the Agora amounting to more than
P100-M; fully air-conditioned meat section; renovation of the fish section
worth P20-M; construction of the fish port and cold storage that helped local
fishermen, fish traders; renovation of the dancing fountain worth P20-M, construction
of P240-M state of the art coliseum in barangay Sta. Lucia, and other tourism
infrastructure projects.
Co also proudly announced that currently, Pagadian City
is considered as one of the dominant cities in Mindanao because it has a little
of everything.
He also said that due to several projects being built in
the city, there are many people who visit our city regularly. Many college graduates
also come to our city because they will take licensure examinations since
Pagadian is known as one of the testing centers in Mindanao," Co said.
Co thanked the Almighty Father because he always
protected the city from the disasters that happened like typhoons, floods,
earthquakes and others.
Co also thanked the steering committee chaired by City
Councilor Sam Tayra Co for the success of the 55th Araw ng Pagadian celebration
as it concluded on Saturday with the civic-military parade. (jcc/The Pagadian
