City gov't turns over 100 housing units to IP community in Lison Valley
By Gideon C. Corgue
PAGADIAN CITY, June 9— The
city government recently conducted a turnover ceremony of housing units to one
hundred (100) families from the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) group in Brgy. Lison
Valley here.
Mayor Samuel Co said that the housing project costs P20-M is the grant from the National Housing Authority (NHA) in the year 2020 and is supplemented by P3-M from the city government to facilitate the construction of houses from contractors.
Co said that the housing
unit consists of a room, a kitchen, a comfort room, and a living room, where
the lot is big and the beneficiaries can also extend their house within their
lot.
Co added that the housing
project is part of the program he planned for his residents where he wants to
raise the standard of living of the people of Pagadian, and have a comfortable
house.
The good mayor said that it
took a long time to complete the construction of the project because the
electricity is far from the center of the barangay and it still needs to build
poles to connect with the electricity.
In the meantime, Co reported
that the city government will install 25 solar lights to light up the houses
and there are also pipes installed from the water source in the upper part of
the barangay so that the people can have water.
The mayor said that the city government has turned over the housing units saying that the identified 100 IP beneficiaries are very eager to live and have even entered the houses.
"We will put a play
ground, a basketball court, and a purok hall in the IP village so that the
beneficiaries can also hold a meeting as a new community," Co concluded.
The event was witnessed by
NHA personnel, city councilors, department heads, and barangay officials.
