BADAC’s role is important to eliminate illegal drugs, Abalos says

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, September 15- The role of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) is very vital in the implementation of the 'Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan' or BIDA program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Thus, disclosed Atty. Benjamin Abalos, Jr., the DILG secretary before the local chief executives of the province, city, municipality and barangay during the Local Government Unit (LGU) Day on September 14 at the Mega gym, barangay Dao here. NCIP installs new IPMR in Lakewood town

Corgue LAKEWOOD, Zamboanga del Sur, September 13- After several months of having no Indigenous People (IP) representative in the Lakewood Municipal Council, Oliver Tumbao was officially installed by the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) as the new IPMR on September 11. Julius Mabini, the provincial officer of NCIP who brought the copy of the certificate of affirmation (COA) issued by their office and personally handed it to Vice Mayor Ronaldo Looc during the regular session of the Sangguniang Bayan officials. Looc said that they expect the COA to be given by the NCIP in their office because this is their legal basis for approval for the additional ex-officio member of the local sanggunian that represents the Indigenous People (IP). The Sangguniang Bayan immediately passed a resolution recognizing and accepting Tumbao as the IP representative of Lakewood. Pagadian Rice retailers cooperates with the government in the implementation of rice price ceiling

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, September 5- The rice retailers in Pagadian City expressed their willingness to support the government in implementing Executive Order No. 39 that was recently signed by President Marcos that set the rice price ceiling in the country. In the meeting of the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) called by Mayor Samuel Co together with the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry and Department of the Interior and Local Government on Monday, September 4, the rice retailers jointly agreed to cooperate in in the implementation of the rice price ceiling for regular milled rice of P41 per kilo and for well-milled rice of P45 per kilo which will be implemented effective at 12:00 noon this Tuesday. Rotary Club of Pagadian West donates musical instruments to SLT in Lakewood town

Corgue LAKEWOOD, Zamboanga del Sur, Sept. 4- The Rotary Club of Pagadian West donated Subanen musical instruments to the officers of the Indigenous People Structure (IPS) in the town of Lakewood during the launching ceremony of the School of Living Tradition (SLT), phase 1 at Phusaha Hall in barangay Poblacion recently. Aldrik Mirrar, the president of the Rotary Club of Pagadian West (RCPW) handed over the Subanen musical instruments to Dlibon Timuay Anita Tumbao and Nilda Mangilay and was witnessed by Oliver Tumbao, the Indigenous People Member Representative (IPMR) of the town. Mirar said that the musical instruments were donated by RCPW to be used by 21 Subanen youths in learning Subanen traditional dances and songs while they were attending SLT for 36 days.
