MNAO conducts food handling, preparation training in Dumalinao town

DUMALINAO, ZamboSur, Nov, 6—As part of their mandate to improve public health, the Municipal Nutrition Action Office (MNAO) of Dumalinao conducted a Two (2) Day Food Handling and Preparation Training at the municipal gym, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur on Nov. 6-7, 2025.

The training was attended by 210 participants consisting of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and mothers with malnourished children.



Nikita Kay Demiar, the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) said that the training was conducted toNikita Kay Demiar, the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) said that the training was conducted to empower mothers with knowledge and skills to properly handle, prepare, and store food so they can improve their children’s nutritional status, promote better health, and prevent further malnutrition.

Demiar said that the MNAO has completed distributing nutrient-dense foods to malnourished children in all barangays and is now capacitating mothers to handle, prepare and store food.


The local government unit (LGU) of Dumalinao under the leadership of Mayor Raul Famor is seeking to reduce child malnutrition through the implementation of multi-faceted strategies.

Vice Mayor Lorenzo Alcantara said that the health of children is very important. “It is necessary for mothers to prepare and cook delicious meals for their children so that children are healthy and there are no more malnourished children in the town.”

Alcantara was optimistic that through the training conducted by the MNAO, mothers will be empowered and gain knowledge and skills in cooking delicious meals to combat malnutrition.

The training was conducted by the experienced tainors: Jusielou Angcao, Registered Nutritionist-Dietitian of Department of Health and Emman Jupetran, Sanitary Health Inspector of LGU-Dumalinao.
