DAR Secretary reaffirms commitment to supporting farmers in in Zamboanga Peninsula

PAGADIAN CITY Nov, 1—DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III assured that the government will continue to support farmers in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Thus, disclosed  during his visit in the city  on October 29. Estrella encouraged farmers not to lose hope because their agency is there to respond and assist the needs of farmers.

Estrella stressed that the support is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to empower farmers and ensure food security in the nation. 

“Don’t give up because our president is ready to help and all our government officials will also help the farmers.” Estrella said.

Estrella distributed land titles, farm implements, and certificates of condonation with release of mortgage (CoCRoM) to thousands of ARBs in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Zamboanga del Sur, which has 224 land titles was distributed to 220 ARBs and the ARBs in Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga Sibugay also received land titles.

A total of more than 2,000 CoCRoMs were distributed and benefited 3,027 ARBs in the Zamboanga Peninsula. The agency also distributed farm machineries, livelihood support, agri inputs to ARBs in region 9.

Zamboanga del Sur received ten (10) farm machineries and equipment and 7,843 farm inputs worth P14.57-M’; Zamboanga del Norte received ten (10) farm machineries and equipment, 768 chickens, and 7,843 agri-inputs worth P15.37M; and Zamboanga Sibugay also received eight (8)  farm machineries and equipment, 7846 agri-inputs worth a total of P19.24-M.

The good Secretary said  the purpose of the activity is to strengthen the capacity of ARBs by providing land tenure security, access to modern farm machinery, and support services that will boost production and development.

“Ang layununin namin dito , kami ay napag-utusan ng pangulo na pabilisin ang pagbibigay ng mga titulo sa ating mga magsasaka at ibigay ang mga certificate na nagpaaptunay na malaya na sila sa utang dahil sa lupa. Layunin rin naming na makapagbigay ng support services.”Estrella concluded. (Our goal here is that we have been ordered by the president to speed up the granting of titles to our farmers and provide the certificates that prove that they are free from land debt. We also aim to provide support services).
