CITY, January 19--- The Provincial Athletic Meet of Zamboanga del Sur was held
in Pagdian City from February 17 to 20, 2025 at the Blue Oval in Barangay Dao
here.
The provincial meet featured 25 sporting events and around 3,000 delegates, coaches, and technical officials from six (6) Quality Learning Circle (QUALCIs).
The
Provincial School Board chaired by Governor Victor Yu announced that this is yet
another occasion that the province-wide sports tournament for student athletes
under the Department of Education (DepEd) was held in Pagadian City.
Aside from the sports events, the provincial meet also showcased cultural activities for elementary and high school students from 27 competing municipalities in the province.

As
chairman of the Provincial School Board, Yu said he has increased the
supplementary budget to almost P20-M.
“We have
allocated a budget of almost P20-M for sports in our province and more than 60%
of our budget is spent on sports. I see the importance of sports events for the
youth because I consider it to be more than a‘human development’ in the
province.
Yu said
that in the past years, ZamboSur has been the champion of the ZPRAA Meet and he
encouraged the athletes to reclaim their crown as the number one in the field
of sports so that they can participate in the Palarong Pambansa in Laoag City
