Mayor Co congratulates KBP Pagadian City as ‘Best Local Chapter’ in the Philippines

PAGADIAN CITY, April 8 – The local chief executive of the city warmly congratulates the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters ng Pilipinas (KBP), Pagadian City chapter for winning the “Best KBP local chapter” in the year 2022 in the entire Philippines.

After the officers of the KBP local chapter informed Mayor Samuel Co of its victory during a press conference held recently, the local chief executive could not contain his joy and applauded the officers as a gesture of acknowledgment and appreciation of the local chapter.

"I am happy that the KBP local chapter won the competition because it helped the city government in spreading information to the people, especially about its programs and services. I strongly believe that you deserve to receive an award because you are professional broadcasters and you have matched the level of the standard of broadcasters in other cities," Co proudly announced.

He added that he has a lot of confidence in the media in the city because they are very active in fulfilling their responsibility.

"I have a lot of confidence in the members of the media in the city because they are professional and very active in doing their responsibility by informing the people of the latest news. The media is very important in information dissemination because they are partners in the development of the city," Co said.

Meanwhile, Melchor Coronel, the chairman of the local chapter is also happy with the reaction of the local chief executive in this development because he personally experienced that the city government is very active in supporting the community outreach programs that the organization conducted in some barangays of the city in the past years.

Coronel added that in every activity that will be conducted by the local chapter that requires logistical support from the city government, it has never refused to provide support, which is why the activities of the local chapter will be successful.

It can be recalled that the KBP national headquarters adjudged the KBP Pagadian City chapter as the ‘Best Chapter’ in 2022 and it will receive P50K and a plaque of appreciation; the KBP Pangasinan chapter, the first runner up will receive P30K and a plaque of appreciation, and the KBP Bukidnon chapter, the second runner up will receive P20K and a plaque of appreciation.

"I never expected that the KBP Pagadian City chapter would win as the Best Chapter since it was our first time to participate in the Incentive Award. I thank all the members of the local chapter who actively participated in the activities that made the local chapter to achieve the much-coveted award," Coronel said.

The winners will receive their awards during the KBP Incentive Awards ceremony to be held at the Manila Golf and Country Club, Makati on April 25. (jcc/The Pagadian Times)
