PAGADIAN CITY, April 1--- About 200 school children in Manlayag Elementary School (MES), barangay Manlayag in Tukuran town have benefited from the community outreach program conducted by the 1st Cavalry Battalion, Armor Division, Philippine Army recently.
Teresa Mercado, the school principal of MES is very happy to receive the services offered by 1CAV with its stakeholders in their school.
"I am very happy that our school became a
beneficiary of the community outreach program of 1CAV dubbed 'Serbisyong Hatid
ng Tagapanguna'. It was my first time to witness the services provided by the
unit since I assumed the position of principal last August 2023," Mercado
said.
The free services provided are as follows: distribution
of school supplies and slippers, feeding program, and free haircuts.
Meanwhile, LtCol. Romeo Gabor, the battalion commander of
1CAV was ecstatic with the warm welcome demonstrated by the teachers, parents
and school children during the activity in the barangay.
Gabor said that the community outreach program is part of the line up of activities to celebrate the anniversary of their unit.
"We are doing the community outreach program here at
Manlayag Elementary School because this is part of the line up activities of
the 50th year founding anniversary of 1CAV this month of April and to help,
uplift, and support our adopted barangays who are deprived of certain services
and also to bring the soldiers closer to the civilians," Gabor elucidated.
Gabor further said this is the first civil-military operations (CMO) activity conducted by their unit in their two (2) adopted barangays in the town of Tukuran after he assumed the position of battalion commander of the 1CAV last February 21.
Gabor conveyed his heartfelt
gratitude to the stakeholders who actively participated and made the event successful,
as follows: Philippine Army Finance Center Producers Integrated Cooperative
(PAFCPIC), Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI),
ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative, Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters ng Pilipinas
