ZamboSur gov encourages LGUs to perform their duties, responsibilities in solving illegal drug problem

PAGADIAN CITY, February 4--- Governor Victor Yu urged the local government units (LGUs) that the awards they received should serve as inspiration for them to perform their duties and responsibilities faithfully.


"I congratulate all the LGUs especially barangay officials from Region 9 for receiving their Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) awards from the DILG. I hope that the award will serve as an inspiration for LGUs that they will perform their duties and responsibilities faithfully," Yu said.

At the Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Regional Performance Awards held at the Pavillon Hall, Provincial Government Center, Dao, Pagadian Cityrecently, Yu sadly informed the city, municipal and barangay officials that the problem of illegal drugs has increased not only in Zamboanga del Sur but in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula.

The good governor added that the illegal drug problem will become very alarming if the municipal and barangay officials do not honestly support the national government's campaign against illegal drugs.

Yu also ordered the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to further strengthen the implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) in uncleared barangays to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Paisal Abutazil of the Department of the Interior and Local Government also conveyed his congratulations to the awardees of Local Anti Drug Abuse Council (ADAC).

"We extend our warmest gratitude for your unwavering commitment and dedication in combating the scourge of drug abuse within our communities. The role of the council cannot be overstated you are the forefront of this battle working tirelessly to safeguard our citizens and ensure that our community remains safe and drug free environment for all of us," said Abutazil.

The LGUs conferred with the regional ADAC awards are as follows: Pagadian City and the municipalities of Dimataling, Dinas, Dumalinao, Dumingag, Josefina, Labangan, Mahayag, Pitogo, Ramon Magsaysay, San Miguel, Tabina, Tambulig, and Vincenso Sagun all. in Zamboanga del Sur.

 

In Zamboanga del Norte : Dapitan City, Dipolog City and municipalities of Gutalac, Jose Dalman, Kalawit, Labason, Leon Postigo, Liloy, Manukan, President Manuel Roxas and Sindangan.

In Zamboanga Sibugay: Buug, Diplahan, Imelda, Mabuhay, Naga, Payao, Roseller T. Lim, Siay, Talusan, and Tungawan.

In Basilan: Isabela City.

The ADAC Performance Awards recognized the exemplary efforts of the LGUs in complementing the national government's efforts in eradicating the country's illegal drug problem. (jcc/The Pagadian Times)
