Pagadian city ready to celebrate Pasalamat Festival 2024

PAGADIAN CITY, January 6--- The local government unit (LGU) of Pagadian
City has prepared the line up of activities for the Pasalamat Festival 2024
which is celebrated on the third Sunday of January every year.
Mayor Samuel Co said that he has approved the budget for the Pasalamat Festival so that all the activities of the celebration will be fully implemented.
"I have already released the consolation prize to the contingents
so that they can use it to buy their costumes and props," Co happily
announced.
Co said that the most awaited Pasalamat Street Dance and Ritual
Competition 2024 is expected to happen on Sunday, January 21 and it will be
participated by 14 contingents.
"This year, the steering committee has reduced to 14 from the 16
contingents of the past year that will participate so that the performance of
the contingents will not be delayed," Co explained.
In a week-long celebration, Co said that the steering committee also
approved sports competitions that include the following: motocross, bicycle
race, 'bancarrera', chess tournament, dart tournament, boxing, volleyball and
others.
Meanwhile, the good mayor announced that this year, there will be no
contest in the fluvial parade unlike the previous years because it is the
Catholic church that is in-charge of the fluvial committee. However, he said
that there will also be sea games that will be held for the people to
participate in and witness.
The local chief executive also said that the festival is set to be
covered by the Eat Bulaga Team of GMA-7 where it will be joined by 27 crew
members which also include some showbiz personalities/hosts who will entertain
the people. and help promote the city of Pagadian to be recognized so that it
can be included in the map of the Philippines.
Co encouraged the neighboring towns, cities and provinces to visit the
city and witness the Pasalamat Festival 2024.
"I encourage the neighboring towns, cities and provinces to come to
Pagadian City and witness the activities. If your LGU wants to present a dance,
you are very welcome and you can be accommodated," Co urged. (jcc/The
