P20-M fully air-conditioned meat section in Pagadian inaugurated
By Gideon C. Corgue
PAGADIAN CITY, January 20--- The
city government inaugurated the newly built P20-M fully-airconditioned meat
section at the Agora complex on January 16.
Mayor Samuel Co led the inauguration together with members of the city council, department heads and meat retailers in the city.
The event started with the
blessing of the building by Rev. Father Bellstar Ediang, ribbon cutting
ceremony, followed by a simple program.
Co said that the city government
built the new fully air-conditioned meat section to maintain the cleanliness of
the meat that will be sold to the public and so that no more flies can enter
the meat section.
Co added that the meat market has
77 stalls, five (5) standby power generators and cutters. It also has freezers
and grinders donated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under the
agency's shared service facility program that can be used by meat retailers.
Through this fully air-conditioned meat section, Co said he hopes that the city will be known throughout the country and that it will not lag behind from other cities .
The good mayor required all the
stall owners to have their own freezers so that their fish products can be
stored well and not spoiled.
Co added that large numbers were
placed on top of the stalls so that the buyers can easily remember their stalls
if there is a complaint about the meat they bought or if there are items left
by the consumers.
Co expressed hope that the new meat section would provide strong support for the local economy, as well as for neighboring communities. He emphasized the meat section's potential as a destination for fresh meats, encouraging everyone to cherish and maintain the facility.
In the same vein, Ruby Malusay,
the president of the Pagadian City Meat Retailers Association (PCMRA) said that
she considers the newly built meat section as their second home.
"This newly built meat section is our new place, new opportunity, and above all new responsibility where it will benefit our people here in Pagadian," Malusay said in vernacular.
Malusay added that PCMRA members
are very happy because of the help of Mayor Samuel Co to build their
long-awaited clean fully-airconditioned meat section.
"There are sacrifices that
we have experienced in the construction of the new meat section, but it has
brought honor and development to our city, not only to our mayor but to all of
us who have consistently supported the development of our city," Malusay
concluded. (jcc/The Pagadian Times)
