More FRs in Zamboanga del Sur to be reintegrated in the community, says military officer

PAGADIAN CITY, Dec. 22 --- Seven (7) more friends rescued
(FRs) are expected to be reintegrated into the community soon.
Thus disclosed LtCol. Terence Ylanan, the commanding
officer of the 53rd Infantry (Matapat) Battalion, Philippine Army during an
interview with the local media.
According to Ylanan, there are still seven (7) FRs left now and their legal cases are still being processed in court.
"We are helping them through the Legal Cooperation
Cluster. We are just waiting for the implementation of the amnesty program of
President Marcos, Jr.," Ylanan announced enthusiastically.
On behalf of the 53rd IB, Ylanan said that they greatly
appreciate the help of the Legal Cooperation Cluster of the Provincial Task
Force to End Local Communist Conflict (PTF-ECLAC) to resolve the pending cases
against the FRs.
It can be recalled that 16 FRs were released recently
after the pending cases in the courts were dismissed due to lack of evidence,
or lack of interest of the plaintiffs to testify in court.
Meanwhile, Zorayda Dadan, a 39-year-old resident of
barangay Lacarayan, Tigbao is very grateful that she is one of the 16 FRs that
were sent to their respective homes.
Dadan also thanked the Legal Cooperation Cluster through
Atty. Jose Ruel Saniel, the Provincial Legal Officer who handled the 15 cases she
faced that was dismissed by the court.
She added that while she was in prison, the 53rd IB sent
him to Good Life Academy and she was able to avail free technical-vocational
courses such as driving NC-II and organic agriculture. ” Dadan proudly announced.

na-dismissed. Makauli na ko sa amoang balay, makauban na nako ang akong pamilya
ug gawasnon na ako nga makasuroy sa bisan asa nga dapit sa lalawigan, (I
am very happy because the 15 cases that were filed against me in court have
been dismissed. I can go home, I can be with my family and I can travel freely
anywhere in the province, " Dadan happily said.
Meanwhile, Dumingag Mayor Gerry Paglinawan commended
Governor Victor Yu, chairman of PTF-ELCAC and 53rd IB for their genuine
implementation of the ELCAC program.
"As a local chief executive, I am very thankful to Governor Yu, 53rd IB and Legal Cooperation Cluster for their sincere implementation of the ELCAC program that helped dismiss the cases of the surrendered FRs. Indeed, their reintegration into society is a Christmas gift they received this Christmas season from the government," Paglinawan said.
Paglinawan is planning that the six 6 FRS from Dumingag
will be given the opportunity to work in the local government unit (LGU) but they
will be first be evaluated based on the skills and expertise they have acquired
from Technical Education. Skills and Development Authority (TESDA). (jcc/Pagadian
