Pagadian mayor urges newly elected SK federated officials to unite
By Gideon C. Corgue
PAGADIAN CITY, November 17 – I urge the newly elected
officials of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Pagadian City to unite in the face of
challenges they experienced in the last Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan
Elections (BSKE).
Thus, disclosed Mayor Samuel Co in his weekly program dubbed "Mayor's Report" which was simulcast on radio stations here.
Co said that he urged the winning officers of the SK
federation to approach their opponents in the last election and befriend them
so that they can unite.
"Let's approach and befriend our opponents in the
last election so that we can be united. We will unite to serve our barangay.
Let's forget everything because the election is only one day. We will reach out
to them so that the program in our barangay runs smoothly," Co said.
Co also reminded the elected SK federated officials of
their duties and responsibilities because they have a salary to receive from
their respective barangays and they must be careful in what they do.
"You should be a role model to your fellow youth.
You should also look at your SK fund in the barangay and how you will use it to
implement your programs and services that will benefit the youth in your
barangays,” Co urged.
He also encouraged the SK officials to conduct activities
such as sports competition, clean up drive, and tree planting so that they will
not be tempted to do bad vices like illegal drugs, etc.
Meanwhile, Marylyn Tan, the SK charirwoman of barangay San Jose, was also elected SK Federated president in Pagadian City.
Tan said that he was happy to be given the trust of his
fellow SK chairpersons in the 54 barangays of the city.
"I am very happy to be elected as SK federated
chairwoman in Pagadian city. I felt mixed emotions," said Tan.
"When I sit in the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) as an
ex-officio member, I will formulate plans, programs,
and activities for the youth especially the programs that will reduce
the current problem of illegal drugs and teenage pregnancy in order to empower
the youth," Tan concluded. (jcc/The Pagadian Times)
