Mayor Co wishes barangay officials in Pagadian to unite

By Gideon C. Corgue

PAGADIAN CITY, November 12 – The officials of Pagadian City want all the barangay officials to unite for the common interests of the constituents.

Thus, disclosed Mayor Samuel Co during the mass oath taking ceremony of the newly elected and re-elected barangay officials and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials under the Team 'Asenso Pagadian' held at the City Commercial Center ( C3) Function Hall, recently.

Co in his message said that he wants all the barangay officials to be united saying that how can they make Pagadian become more progressive city if politics is always a hindrance in offering services to the general public.

His appeal stems from the brutal killing of Rodolfo Dacol, the newly elected punong barangay of Lapedian who was shot dead on November 5, the day before the oath taking ceremony.

"One of your fellow barangay officials -Punong Barangay Lolong Dacol of Lapedian who was supposed to take his oath off office today, was gunned down due to dirty politics. We are saddened by his untimely demise who will not be able to join you in your oath taking," Co sadly announced.

The local chief executive also called on the winning barangay officials to unite with them and not allow politics to divide the interests of the people.

"The course of our politics here in Pagadian is very sad because of the death of Punong Barangay Dacol. Let's just entrust it to our Almighty God," Co said.

Meanwhile, Co assured that the city government of Pagadian always support the plans and programs of the barangay officials for the development of their respective barangays.

"I also ensure that in the implementation of our programs and projects in the barangays, the funds of the local government will be seen and felt by the people," Co concluded. (jcc/The Pagadian Times)
