Mayor Co seriously considers not to run in the 2025 local election

By Gideon C. Corgue

PAGADIAN CITY, November 1 – "I am seriously considering not running in the 2025 local election," thus declared the father of Pagadian City.

In the press conference, Mayor Samuel Co revealed that the result of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) on October 30 in Pagadian City is not good because of the 54 barangay chairpersons, only 18 who supported him won, while 36 supported his political opponent.

"I am extremely disappointed, discouraged and I seem to have lost my strength with the results of the BSKE because many of our barangay chairpersons lost. I feel sorry for them, especially the hardworking barangay officials," Co said.

Co said he was discouraged because he kept asking the people to help him support his recommended barangay chairpersons so that it would be easy for him to facilitate the implementation of development projects in Pagadian, but the people never followed his earnest request.

He added that he does not have enough barangay officials to support him, so he will be burdened if he continues to serve the people.

The local chief executive said that he has been serving for a very long time and this is his second round of serving the people of the city.

"Perhaps, I can now rest from my service. I will just spend my time in taking care of myself, wife and children," Co announced.

He said that the sad incident may have served as a warning for him to stop serving the city. "Maybe, God has another plan for me," Co added.

Co said that with the remaining one and a half years in office, he will only focus on the implementation of unfinished projects and invite businessmen to invest in the city. (jcc/The Pagadian Times)
