GENERAL SANTOS CITY, October 12 – The newly appointed chief of the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) said that her administration is implementing a consultative, transparent, and participative type of leadership.
In an exclusive interview with Chairperson Jennefir Sebug-las during her recent visit to the city of General Santos, she disclosed that under her current administration she strictly implements the "consultative, transparent and participative" type of her leadership --- where no one is left behind and everyone has a voice in our government.
Sebug-las, the former ethnological
commissioner for Central Mindanao replaced Allen Capuyen who stepped down from
his position as chairperson on September 5, this year.
Sebug-las spent enough time to talk to
some tribal leaders from regions 12 and 9 who brought up issues and concerns
from their respective Indigenous People cultural communities.
Oliver 'Jokjok" Tumbao, the
Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of the municipality of Lakewood,
is one of those who admire the good qualities of Sebuglas where he observed
that she is a very humble person and has a heart to listen to the tribal
leaders. .
Tumbao said that the chairperson is also
very simple where the tribal leaders do not hesitate to approach her and it is
easy for them to convey their problems. “Her consultative leadership style is
built on mutual respect between (her) as our leader and the IP leaders, as
followers,” he said.
In the same development, Datu Radin
Iguas, the former IPMR of Kidapawan City was very happy in his meeting with
Sebug-las because he personally witnessed the good quality traits of her as being
a consultative leader.
Iguas described the chairperson as
"a female leader who does not do what she wants, but does what the
Indigenous People want". (jcc/Pagadian Times)
