Rotary Club of Pagadian West conducts feeding program, free haircuts to IP’s children

Corgue LAKEWOOD, Zamboanga del Sur, July 29-- About 100 poor children of the Indigenous People (IP) in purok 9 and 10 of Barangay Tubod, Lakewood benefited from the feeding program conducted by the Rotary Club of Pagadian West recently. Aldrick Mirar, the president said that the event is part of the charity work of the organization to address the malnutrition problem in the barangay. Mirar explained that it is part of their social duties and responsibilities as officers and members of the international organization to provide voluntary humanitarian services especially to poor communities, encourage high standards of behavior, and help develop of goodwill and peace in the province. Mirar added that they also conducted the feeding program for poor children in barangay Bululawan last year, and actively supported the government in the roll-out campaign of the COVID-19 vaccination in barangay Poblacion. To address malnutrition and improve the health of young Indigenous People's (IP’s) children, the Rotary Club of Pagadian West conducted a feeding program in Purok 9 & 10 in barangay Tubod, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur on Wednesday, July 26. About one hundred (100) IP children have benefitted from Rotary's feeding program led by their president Aldrick Mirrar and participated by officers and members of the international organization. The event is part of the organization's first charity work for the year 2023. Free haircuts were also given to children including their parents.

About 2,100 youth with disabilities from 20 countries in the world who are participants in the 2023 Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates attended the online oathtaking ceremony on Tuesday (July 25). The oathtaking ceremony was led by Jethro Marzado, the 17-year-old champion of the National IT Challenge and a student of Dao-an National High School, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. After the ceremony, the participants were also subjected to an assessment by the Ministry of Health (Republic of Korea), LG and Government of Abu Dhabi.

Corgue ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 23—The Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA-9) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-9) celebrated the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week with RCDA member-agencies and local government unit of Zamboanga City at KCC Mall here recently. Riduan Hadjimuddin, the regional director of DSWD and RCDA-9 chairperson said that it is very important for the offices of the national and local governments and the community to celebrate the NDPR week every year to increase the level of awareness of the public on the rights, privileges and interests of persons with disabilities (PWDs). ZamPen's NSPC qualifiers underwent Regional Enhancement Training

Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, July 14— The Department of Education (DepEd-9) through the Curriculum Learning and Management Division (CLMD) has trained student-journalists in the Regional Enhancement Training (RET) held recently at the NEAP Building, Barangay Tiguma here. Dr. Eugenio Penales, the chief of CLMD said that the event helped develop the skills and competence of the RSPC winners who will represent region-9 to the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) in Cagayan de Oro City on July 17 -21. Penales said that the training refined the writing skills of the participants including their grammar, vocabulary, sentence construction, coherence and writing techniques so that they can produce high quality output. In the training, Penales said that the participants learned how to identify newsworthy topics, conduct interviews, verify facts, and present information in a clear, concise and engaging manner. Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, July 03—"Collaboration is the cornerstone of the organization's success", said the newly installed president of the Rotary Club of Pagadian West during the 46th induction and turn over ceremonies held at Guillermo Hotel recently. In his acceptance speech, Aldrik Mirrar, a businessman was very happy for the trust they gave him and the opportunity to lead an organization that is well known for providing humanitarian service. In order to strengthen the organization, Mirrar said that the Rotary Club of Pagadian West will forge partnerships with local organizations, businesses and government entities to maximize their impact and extend their reach.
