PAGADIAN CITY, April 5— The Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO) is ready to implement their security measures for the observance of Holy Week in the second week of April.

Major Hermenigildo Bajao, Jr., the spokesperson of the ZSPPO said in the joint conference held with the chiefs of the municipal police stations that they have already prepared the security plan in preparation for the event.

Bajao said that the ZSPPO deployed police personnel in the municipalities to ensure public safety.

"We have also set up police assistance desks in churches and airports and bus terminals to provide security to Catholic devotees who will gather to participate in the procession at the stations of the cross on Good Friday and also for our travellers," Bajao declared.

The starting point of the procession is usually in the church and there are designated spots in the streets for the stations.

Meanwhile, Bajao is asking families to take a short vacation outside the province to observe the Holy Week, “it is necessary for them to close their houses tightly, and ask the neighbors to help in safeguarding their house so as not to be victimized by thieves.”

He also said that the security of the observance of the Holy Week is not the sole responsibility of the PNP but it is the responsibility of everyone.

"With the support of our people including our force multipliers, we are optimistic that our observance of the Holy Week will be peaceful and successful," Bajao' concluded.

The Holy week is one of the biggest religious events in the country that Filipinos observe every year as a commemoration of the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (jcc/KBP-Zamboanga del Sur)
