Diplahan Fire Brigade emerged as champion of the 2023 regional fire brigade competition

PAGADIAN
CITY, April 3— With their burning determination, perseverance and fighting
spirit, the Diplahan Fire Brigade of Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay emerged
champion in the Regional Fire Brigade Competition held at the Soccer Field, Dao
Provincial Sports Complex, Dao recently.
The Diphahan Fire Brigade received an award of P20,000. Meanwhile, the Depore Bayog Fire Brigade in Zamboanga del Sur, the 1st Runner Up received Php 15,000; the Manicahan Fire Brigade in Zamboanga City, the 2nd Runner Up received Php 10,000; and La Libertad Fire Brigade in Zamboanga del Norte, 3rd Runner Up received Php 5,000.
The
participating teams also received a plaque of appreciation from BFP-9.
The fire volunteer brigades displayed their firefighting skills by performing the following: hose laying and replacement of busted hose, bucket relay, and flammable liquid fire extinguishing.
During the
event, the BFP-9 exhibited their firefighting and rescue equipment and also
held a static display of BFP uniforms from the Pagadian City Central Fire
Station.
In the same
development, Chief Supt. Renato Badong Marcial, regional director of the Bureau
of Fire Protection (BFP-9) said that the firefighting skills competition is
held every year and is usually participated by fire volunteer brigades in the
provinces of Zamboanga Peninsula.
Marcial
underscored the important role of the fire volunteer brigades as an active and
reliable partner of the BFP in the performance of their duties such as fire
suppression, search and rescue, traffic control and others.
"They
are our active force multipliers in suppressing fire in their respective
barangays. They are well trained by the BFP to obtain firefighting skills so
that they can help the fire fighters and prevent damage to property and loss of
life," Marcial said.
The
regional fire brigade competition is one of the activities held every year to
culminate the observance of Fire Prevention Month in March which carries the
theme "Sa Pag-Iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag Iisa!" (jcc/KBP-Zam boanga
