Armor commander confident that 1CAV’s new commanding officer qualified, capable to lead the unit

PAGADIAN CITY, February 22--- The 1st Cavalry (Tagapanguna)
Battalion, Armor Division, Philippine Army held a change of command ceremony
for outgoing and incoming officers recently.
LtCol. Jerry Tucaqui, the outgoing commanding officer was replaced by LtCol. John Mark Competente, the incoming commanding officer during the simple ceremony held at Camp Col. Jacobo Zobel, Upper Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.
The ceremony was graced by
Major General Facundo Palafox IV, the commander of the Armor Division who is
also the presiding officer and was attended by officers from the various units
of the division.
Palafox turned over the flag of the unit from Tucaqui to
Competente as a symbol of passing the authority to manage the unit.
Palafox said that with Tucaqui's operational and administrative expertise, the command is optimistic that he will provide knowledge and enough experience to optimize the strategic level of planning to benefit all units under the Armor division.
He also commended Tucaqui
because during his two-year stint in the unit as battalion commander, the 1st
CAV was adjudged as the "Best Cavalry Battalion of the Armor Division for
Year 2022" for showing good performance in operations and management in
facilitating the functions of the unit.
On the other hand, the Armor
Division commander hopes that LtCol. Competente, the newly installed commanding
officer that in his management of the unit, every member of the Tagapunguna
battalion will give their full support and cooperation to him where he will
also take care of them all doing their daily tasks and responsibilities.
"Ltcol. Competente is a
discreet person but he can bring the battalion to a greater heights. He is
equally qualified and capable of leading the Tagapunguna Battalion,"
Palafox proudly announced.
Palafox said that Tucaqui, the outgoing commanding officer will join him in the Armor division in Capaz, Tarlac as a member of the General's staff.
The Armor Division commander ended his message by quoting Phil Jackson's inspirational quote saying "The strength of an individual player is from the team, and the strength of the team is from individual players". (jcc/KBP Zamboanga del Sur)
