Tribal leaders in Lakewood town dismayed when NCIP-9 chief did not show up for dialogue

By Gideon Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, May 20— The tribal leaders in the town of Lakewood have expressed their dismay and disgust when the head of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NICP-9) did not show up for them when they came to the office recently. More than 30 tribal leaders wearing their traditional costumes led by Timuay Lbon Nhilda Mangilay of the Indigenous Political Structure (IPS) arrived at the NCIP regional office to have a dialogue with acting Regional Director Marita Mi ñao   to convey their complaints against the management of the agency. Mangilay said that they sent an official letter to Mi ñao in her office to request her to attend the meeting of tribal leaders on May 2, but they were refused because she could not attend on that date so they moved it to May 12, but the said officer still did not attend.   By Gideon Corgue PAGADIAN CITY, May 15— The Armor (Pambato) Division, Philippine Army officially declared the winners of the 14th Squad Challenge during the closing ceremony held at its headquarters in Camp O' Donell, Capas, Tarlac recently. The 14th Squad Challenge consists of two categories: Cavalry Carrier Team and Mechanized Dismount Team. In the Cavalry Carrier Team category, the winners are as follows: 1st Cavalry (Tagapanguna) Battalion of Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur as champion, the 4th Cavalry Company of Cagayan De Oro, second place, and 7th Cavalry Company of Catbalogan, Samar, third place . While in the Mechanized Dismount Team Category, the 4th Mechanized Infantry (Kalasag) Battalion of Balo-i, Lanao del Norte was the Champion, the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion of Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, second place; and the 6th Mechanized Infantry Battalion of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, third place.
